Akufo Addo's Gov't "Sleeping" On The Job - Adongo

Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament Isaac Adongo has accused the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration of sleeping on the job.

According to him, government seem to be struggling to get its economic priorities right hence finding it difficult to spend this year, a situation he attributed to a sign of government that is not serious in taking the best decision for its citizens.

Issac Adongo made these disclosures on Tuesday’s edition of Onua Fm morning show.

“How can they say they are serious when bills are being withdrawn left right and center. This is the third times this Zongo Development Fund Bill 2017 is being withdrawn, why. Tell them they are sleeping on the job, they should not be taking us for granted” he told Bright Kwesi Asempa.

The Bolgatanga Central MP reiterated that government is deliberately delaying the passage of the Zongo Development Fund Bill so that it can ‘conveniently’ have excuse for not spending the 1.38 billion cedis, adding that “we are almost at the end of the year and the vehicle for spending that money is in a limbo and from now to December, it will be difficult for people to set up an SME business”

Isaac Adongo who is also a member of the Finance committee in the Ghanaian Parliament has also painted a gloomy picture of the country’s survival when he said government is not being truthful to its citizens by not telling them the true state of the economy. Explaining this, he alleged that government had to borrow before paying workers’ salary in September, wondering what the situation will be in October.

“They don’t have the money and they won’t tell us the real state of affairs, this is why they are delaying these bills”

He also questioned why the state needs to establish 4 to 5 bureaucracies this year alone before spending the 1.38 billion Cedis this year but the fact is “they don’t have the money”

“Let me ask you this, government is now saying they need 50,000 acres of land in each district to implement their flagship One District One Factory policy, which is equivalent to 200,000 houses. I live in Adenta and even if they demolish all the buildings there, there is no way they will get that size of land, so is this not another excuse. Government just set out to fail” he averred
