I am wondering why Winneba High Court Judge, Justice George Atto Mills-Graves did not turn up in court today October 9, 2017 as he slated for the hearing of the case brought against University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the Ministry of Education.
He himself gave October 9, 2017 as the commencement date after he granted Supi’s/Markin’s injunction application in part but not in full. I learnt Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin too was not in court today neither did any of his representatives turn up.
The same scenario happened when the case was to be called on June 5, 2017. How can a plaintiff’s lawyer know that a judge won’t come to court as scheduled on two occasions and the defender’s lawyer will not have any wind of it? I doubt if this could be called a coincidence. If Justice George Atto Mills-Graves thinks that the current government or Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin is not in bed with him, he should recuse himself honourably by asking the CJ to transfer the case to another judge.
The current government is just meddling in the affairs of Effutu without considering the future ramifications. There is a chieftaincy dispute in Effutu which is an open secret. The current government now is siding with one side by appointing Nenyi Ghartey VII as a member of UEW governing council.
Nenyi Ghartey VII now has a UEW Benz assigned to him and one may ask what about the other council members? Is Nenyi Ghartey VII a poor chief? If I were him, I will not kowtow to the whims and caprices of Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin, a freemason to the detriment of my dignity as a traditional leader. I would be back as new developments crop up.
