Ghanaians have taken to their various social media pages to express their detest and disappointment for the gruesome murder of Army Captain Mahama. Are Ghanaians really channeling their anger to the right course? Should the people be worried about just the murder of Captain Mahama and the prosecuting of his murderers? It is so sad that many Ghanaians do not recognize the real problem at hand.Though it is an undisputed fact that the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be punished and brought to book, the real issue and root cause must be solved to prevent future occurrences.

Ghanaians and the government must only see the death of this honorable man as a wake up call and a reminder to end mob justice.Frankly speaking, this is not the first time the country and her citizens have witnessed the death of a person resultant from mob justice.Poor are the souls of many like the late Captain who have been murdered unjustly through mob justice without a fair hearing or trial and on numerous occasions some do not even have love ones to ensure that their murderers are arrested and brought to book as in the case of late Captain Mahama.

The government must formulate strict policies to ensure that these barbaric situations where some group of people take the law into their hands and cause pain to others in the guise of delivering justice is stopped.Ghana has come a long way to communicate such bad image to other sister countries and trigger the thought that Ghanaians do not have trust in their justice and judicial system. The government must ensure that the murderers of the late Captain be punished severely and used as scapegoat to deter others who take delight in mob justice. The judiciary must also serve justice justly without favouritism or influence from the various political parties as expected of them.

I would use this previlege to express my condolence to the family of the late Captain, the Army and to all Ghanaians.I urge all military men to remain discipline as we know of them and wait for the law to take it right course.
