Late Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Sunyani Municipal Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region, Hon. Akwasi Oppong Ababio, popularly known as “Adwumawura” will be laid to rest on Saturday, 29th April at St. Joseph Roman Catholic School Park, Abesim.

The 62-year-old Politician passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2017atthe Sunyani Regional Hospital, around 9:00pm after complaining of not physically fit.

The late Former Sunyani MCE survived by a wife and four children, three girls and a boy.

The late Mr. Ababio contested the Sunyani East Constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 20016 general elections, but lost to the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Akwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh.

He was the former Deputy regional secretary of the NDC and later became Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Sunyani Municipal Assembly from 2009-2016.

Late Hon. Akwasi Oppong Ababio held a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource and Strategic Management from the Graduate Institute.

He was an Agriculturalist and hails from Abesim in the Sunyani East Constituency.

The Late Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Funeral rites will be attended by Politicians like leading members of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), namely Former President, Mahama, Johnson Asiedu Nketia better no as General Mosquito, General Secretary, National and Regional Executives, and some leading members of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to sympathize with family and friends, his (late Ababio) untimely and painful demise.

Brother of the late MCE, Apostle K. Osei Anane, confirmed to Metro 90.5FM Sunyani based radio that all the funeral activities will take place at Abesim St. Joseph Roman Catholic School Park and R.C School Park with the following funeral arrangements;

There will be no Wake Keeping,he stated.
Laying in State: Saturday 29th April, 2017 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic School Park, Abesim.

Burial: Saturday 29th April, 2017 at Wamfia Royal Cemetery around 10am.

Final Funeral Rites: Saturday 29th April, 2017 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

Thanksgiving Service: Sunday 30th April, 2017 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Abesim.

Family gathering: 1st May 2017 at family house at 9:00am.

Background
Late Hon. Akwasi Oppong Ababio was in his private residence in the evening when he suddenly started complaining of not physically fit, and immediately rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital before his death.
