Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of MTN, Asher Khan noted that MTN Ghana launched the Apps Challenge in 2013 to look for local Apps developers who could develop locally relevant mobile applications.
He indicated that we are in a digital world and for that matter Apps developers are changing the world around us whilst some are doing their work independently.
Mr. Khan added individuals and organizations involved in digital project development are contributing immensely to the growth of their local economies.
“As the leading telecoms service provider with the version of “leading the delivery of a bold new digital world,” the MTN Apps challenge forms part of MTN Group’s aim to grow the App developer community in Africa and increase local content across its footprint,” Mr. Khan intimated.
He emphasized that we may not be moving as fast as developers in the developed world but we believe that gradually we will catch up with the rest of the world in growing our economies through digital projects.
According to him, to take this effort to its logical next step, MTN has partnered with industry experts to commercialize viable Apps Challenge projects through the strategic initiative called Katapult.
