I will quit smoking. I would get closer to God. I will pray more. will work on my marriage I will study more. I will stop taking alcohol. I will control my temperament. I will stop cheating on my spouse. And the list goes on and on and on.
We all make resolutions. We have aspirations, goals and objectives. I mean that's what gives us direction in this world. Resolutions are things we are determined to do. More like a vow or intent. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to improve yourself and your circumstances.
What I don't get is why people wait to the start of a new year before making resolutions. Where did this whole ' *New* *Year* *Resolution'* thing come from? It's quite funny sometimes because we want to accomplish certain things that we right it down and give ourselves deadlines but how many of us actually do them. It's good to plan ahead but do we work towards it? Most of us forget about our new year resolutions. We're in the beginning of January and I can say without an iota of doubt that about *80%* of those who made resolutions have forgotten about them by now.
When you realize that there's something you have to change or resolve, do so immediately. Prioritize your aspirations. Set realistic goals and possibly,a deadline as well. Your drinking problem doesn't care about when you want to quit and it most certainly doesn't care of it's part of your 'New Year Resolutions' or not. It doesn't care of you quit in January or August. The point I'm making here is that, you can make resolutions anytime, any day, anywhere. There's no rule anywhere that you should make resolutions in the beginning of January or the end of December. If you want to achieve something, it takes focus, determination and the willingness to do it.
Do not conform to this new year resolutions trend if you don't want to. Do not let the society mould you to suit it. If you want to achieve something, do it now. Do not wait any longer. Time waits for no one. It's all about you. Do what you feel okay with.
I did same when I came to that realization. It doesn't matter the time, I mean what's the point if you cannot stick to the plan. It takes determination to be punctual at church and it takes as much to quit smoking and get straight As.
All in all, your aspirations, bows and objectives do not care the time you place them. Just set the resolutions and goals now.
