Accra, Sept. 15, GNA - The Labone Senior High School Old Students Association (LOSA) 83-year group, on Thursday, handed over a multi-purpose paved event grounds to the Management of the school.
The project, which was completed at a cost of GH ȼ 35,000.00 would provide a more decent and conducive environment for holding school gatherings and other extra-curricular events.
Mr Joshua Akron, LOSA President said the project was the biggest so far to be undertaken by any year group upon a petition presented to the Association by the Headmistress at the schools speech and prize giving day last year.
He expressed gratitude to the Headmistress and the Management of the School for the support and co-ordination of LOSA projects, as well as their collaboration with the various year groups to improve both infrastructure and academic excellence among the students.
Mr Prosper Daniel Blagogee, LOSA83 President unveiled a plaque and presented 20 pieces of dust bins they had secured from the Fan Milk Ghana Limited to facilitate good sanitation and proper waste management practices in the school.
He pledged the Group's commitment towards ensuring the expansion of other infrastructure to make the institution one of the best and preferred in the Greater Accra Region.
Ms Kate Bannerman, the Headmistress of the LOSA, thanked the Association for their continuous support, and particularly commended the 83- year group for honouring their promise by completing the project on schedule.
She said the paved grounds now to be known as the LOSA 83 Square, is an opportune investment that would provide spacious converging grounds for all manner of ceremonies of the school, and could also be rented out for public events to generate additional revenue to finance other internal activities of the school.
She said the school's present Assembly Hall has also become too small to accommodate the current high student population of 2,700, and as such it could only provide comfort for just 500 people.
Ms Bannerman again appealed to LOSA, and threw out the challenge to the various year groups, to once more help in expanding the facility to improve the sitting capacity of students.
