A non-profit organization called Patients Friend Foundation has organized a free health screening exercise for over 1,341 students at the ministry of health basic school (MOH) inside korle-bu teaching hospital in the Greater Accra Region.
During the screening exercise, 518 student had Dental, Ear, Nose and Throat related cases at which they were referred to korle-bu teaching hospital for further treatment.
The founder of Patients Friend Foundation, Benjamin Mensah Ansah disclose in an interview that, the exercise came about when the old student association of MOH write to his organisation as they marked their 40th year anniversary.
‘ It is time we educate our children on some health issues because i was amaze when i asked a student who a dentist is and none, if indeed these children our future leaders then we must inculcate in them the right knowledge for the development of our mother Ghana. ‘he lamented.
According to him the main challenges confronting the organisation include medical equipment, volunteers from various hospital and financial support.
On the other hand, he therefore called on cooperate bodies, institution in charge of health related issues and foreign donors to come on board to support the foundation to reach out to the poor and the vulnerable in the society.
