Starting from November 30 Apstar Ghana will fly two times per week from Hamburg and Dusseldorf to Accra. The flights are offered through a partnership with Hamburg International Airlines using Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircrafts. The initiative by Apstar Ghana aims to provide an alternative for the Dusseldorf-Accra route from Ghana Airways and is marketed in the Benelux and Germany by Aero World Services Ltd.
According to Mr. de Vries, sales manager of Aero World Services, there is a huge demand in the Benelux and Germany for low-cost flights to Ghana. He said, "in the past decades Ghana Airways Germany has been servicing this market segment with flights which were considerably cheaper than its competitors". Adding, "now that Ghana Airways has collapsed Apstar Ghana aims to close that gap".
