A non-governmental organisation (NGO) with worldwide membership, Victor Kusi Boateng (VKB) Ministries, has presented assorted items worth GH¢4,000 to the inmates of the Central Destitute Infirmary at Bekwai-Amoafo in the Ashanti Region.
The items include bags of rice, maize, beans, cartons of canned fish, soaps and detergents, gallons of oil and non-alcoholic drinks.
The VKB Ministries also made an undisclosed cash donation towards the purchase of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and payment of utility bills for the infirmary.
Vice President of VKB Ministries, Anita Kusi Boateng, presenting the items, said the donation was to celebrate the birthday of Rev Victor Kusi Boateng (her husband), who is the Overseer of the Power Chapel Worldwide and President of VKB Ministries.
VKB has unofficially adopted the infirmary which receives GH¢575 subvention from government and, therefore, relies on the benevolence of individuals such as the VKB Ministries and Rev Kusi Boateng for their needs.
Mrs Kusi Boateng said the inmates used to eat twice a day or sometimes once due to lack of food, but indicated that the ministries has been able to provide them three square meals a day for over a year now.
The organisation has also provided the infirmary with commercial stove, cylinders, refrigerators, blenders and other items to make their stay more comfortable.
She hinted that the ministries would continue to assist the infirmary.
Supervisor of the infirmary, Akuoko Rahman, who received the items on behalf of the infirmary, thanked Rev Kusi Boateng and the ministries for their continuous support.
He mentioned cash, wax prints and food to the caregivers from the VKB Ministries as a huge incentive to them to take good care of the inmates.
Akuoko Rahman, however, called on others to emulate the good works of the VKB Ministries.
