Recognizing, Appreciating And Celebrating Women Of Excellence

Since time immemorial, women from various communities all over the world have made a number of life transforming decisions and have undertaken history making actions that still inspire generations after generations even up to now.

The exceptional track record of excellence by the feminine folk deserves to be continually documented, recognized, broadcasted and be celebrated in order to inspire contemporary women and to help the men to accept women’s relevance.

From as far back as when the Bible accounts can take us, women of repute were already recognized and respected even in socio-economic and political issues.

2Samuel 20vs.16-17 Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee: 17 And when he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear. KJV

The above scriptures shows us that excellence, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and exploits are not a preserve of man only but are also liberally extended to be a valued possession of the women in the land as well.

As such, these women need to be identified, recognized, appreciated and be celebrated because they have the capacity to build houses, manage families, inspire communities and build nations.

Real women of excellence do not depend on the quota system in order for them to make an impact but they are rather knowledgeable and full of understanding which makes them to be people of influence who command respect in their communities.

Judges 4vs.4-6 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time: 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment: 6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? KJV

Just like Deborah, exceptional women can occupy critical positions of authority in their communities and yet still maintain and respect social and moral values such as marriage and the family unit among others.

As shown by the scripture above, such women also have an in-depth understanding of what the Bible says and they use the scriptures (Word of God) as a basis for their decisions.

Women of excellence are deservedly consulted in various economic and socio-political issues because of their ability to offer realistic and practically effective solutions that transform societies without using any unscrupulous mechanisms.

Unfortunately, because of selfish personal interests, some people may quickly discover these intelligent and wise ladies and then try to manipulate and abuse them, thus undermining women’s effectiveness and relevance in critical societal issues.

2Samuel 14vs.2 And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead. KJV

Some individuals may try to abuse their association and relationships with these women of excellence because they know that a wise and intelligent woman has the capacity to achieve beyond what the mind can imagine.

It is important to note that virtuous women from any part of the world are good public relations managers in their families, communities, nations and continents.

They bring and promote peace, order, stability and development through their humane decisions, actions and support in various family and societal issues.

1Samuel 25vs.3 Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. KJV

According to the scripture above, Nabal was really a rich bad guy but he had a virtous woman of excellence who helped him to manage the affairs of their community and enterprise.

Abigail, Nabal's wife managed to adopt and maintain good relations with the workers and foreigners in Nabal's territory and as such, she promoted peace and development in the community (1Samuel 25vs.14-37).

So, let us go ahead and identify, recognize, appreciate and celebrate exceptional women in our communities.

Let us consult them, let us encourage and promote them whenever possible in order for us to build a civilized and peaceful world. Let them showcase their giftedness and let us support and help them to keep shining, they are all stars.
