
The Ghanaian Community Leaders led by the President of UGAG (Union of Ghanaian Associations in Germany) Mr. Daniel Dake, were invited to meet with the new Ambassador to Germany Her Excellency Akua Sena Dansua in Berlin on Saturday, the 16 of August 2014.
Community Leaders from all over Germany including Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Darmstadt, Hamburg, Mannheim, Munich, Stuttgart and Worms as well as the German Youth Leader Mr. Francis Twumasi were present at the meeting.

This was the first time the newly appointed Ambassador to Germany H.E Akua SenaDansuamet the Community leaders to introduce herself and to discuss matters of mutual interest. Some of the problems facing the Ghanaians in Germany were discussed.
The community leaders presented as list of topics to the Ambassador. They included the high renunciations fees being charged in Germany, passport issuing duration and the Biometric passport issuance. An appeal was made to the Ambassador to introduce Persons of Ghanaian Origin ID card, similar to the Ethiopian “Yellow Card”, which would allow Persons of Ghanaian Origin to travel to Ghana without applying for entry visas.
Minister S. Adotey Anum in a response, stated that the “Right of Abode” provides for this situation but the only conditions is that the person applying for the Right of Abode should be resident in Ghana for at least 5 years.

She made mention of the effort the Government is taking to ensure that goods could be cleared in one day at the harbors and the establishment of the Diaspora Front Desk at the Embassy to be responsible for Diaspora Affairs.
She also stressed on the importance of education asking Ghanaians in Germany to encourage their children to learn hard. H.E. Akua Sena Dansua urged Ghanaians to invest back home.
