HEALTHCARE DELIVERY is expected to receive a major boost in the Brong Ahafo Region following the construction of five new polyclinics in various parts of the region at the total cost of $10million.
The five beneficiary communities are Bomaa in the Tano North District, Techimantia in the Tano South District, Kwatire in the Sunyani West District, Wamfie in the Dormaa East District and Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District.
At a symbolic commissioning of the five polyclinics constructed by the Government of Ghana at Techimantia on Friday, the Minister of Health, Hanny Sherry Ayittey, said the government would do everything possible to make health delivery system accessible to people in rural area to avoid maternal mortalities in the country.
The Health Minister announced that each facility had been supported with solar generator to ensure regular supply of power.
She urged the would-be assigned staff to any of the polyclinics to give up their best to discard the bad perception that the general public have about health workers.
Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Justice Samuel Adjei, stressed the need for regular maintenance of the facilities, while calling on the beneficiary communities to keep close eye on the facilities.
Dr Hannah Louisa Bissiw, MP for Tano South, assured the people in the area of the efforts being made by government to reconstruct all the bad roads in the constituency.
She mentioned Derma-Asuoso, Techimantia-Bechem, Subinso-Asuboi, as some of the road networks to be tackled soon.
The District Chief Executive for Tano South, Bukari Zakari Anaba, on his part noted that the provision of the five polyclinics in the region was a manifestation of government's resolve to fulfill its commitment to providing quality healthcare delivery for people in the region.
Albert Takyi, a Ghanaian Representative of VAMED Construction Engineering Company of Vienna-Austra, the contractors, said the company had constructed similar projects in the Northern and Upper West regions on behalf of Government of Ghana.
