Ghana Dey B!

Ghana Dey B!
27.12.2013 LISTEN

Ghana differs from many other nations on this earth by the hospitable atmosphere which one is quick to experience immediately after landing on our shores. Together with the peaceful nature of many a Ghanaian and the joyful demeanor of the Ghanaian, Ghana could on good merit be referred to as Paradise as described in most of the world's 'Good-Word Books.'

Let it be known though, that by peaceful, I am by no means intimating that Ghana is without problems. Neither am I in no way implying that the Ghanaian is timid. By peaceful, I am referring to that inner joy and tranquility that the average Ghanaian possesses, that 'It' factor which all people across this planet associate with the Ghanaian both at home and in the Diaspora.

Any persons who beg to differ that peaceful does not equal to timidity are advised to take a trip to other towns and villages in the country besides Accra or to other places even within our capital outside the suburbs. In these places I could declare that misbehavior is not tolerated and unruly acts don't go unpunished. Dare I say that foolery in such places as Ashiaman, Bukom, Chorkor, Teshie or any of the country's traditional areas is unacceptable? The Mahama Administration, would be first to affirm that the Ghanaian is passionate and not passive; humble, calm and respectful but far from submissive; as was witnessed in Ashiama's youths agitating over the lack of good roads in their town not so long ago.

Ghana's peace, different from that of many countries, is what gives us the fearlessness with which we carry out daily duties and plan for the future of our republic. Fearlessness which is clearly and boldly stated in the first stanza of our national anthem; “God Bless Our Homeland Ghana, And Make Our Nation Great and Strong, Bold to Defend Forever!” Peace and fearlessness with which the many among us accept the Supreme Court's Verdict on Election 2012.

We as Ghanaians, purpose in our hearts just like Daniel did in the good-word and in our minds, with all our might, that peace and joy shall one day be the daily bread for all, and just as the Prophet Muhammad ran away from Mecca to Medina from evil; Injustice and stress would flee our shores. Justice would be sought for any mistreated citizen or visitor, relief brought to the feeble and less privileged and above all, the freedom that our foreparents and ancestors fought to win shall be ours forever.

In Mahama's Hope City, (ghananewsmedia, modernghana), I supported the idea of Ghana's Manhattan Project and also stated few reasons why I thought it was a good idea for our country. However, I also did mention that although I had no problem with the contract being awarded to the Agams group, I thought the many of the smaller projects around the Hope City should be given to other qualified people and companies who may have no proximity to power or no powerful network of ministers and government aides; simply put those who may not “know anybody who is somebody.”

That would speak well of President John Mahama and further enhance his yearning reputation as 'father for all,' as I believe he wants all Ghanaians to see him. I know there are some opposition members who would shudder at the notion of a father for all title but to them I would politely ask to get over it; election shenanigans or not, Nana Addo has officially conceded.

I refuse to be part of any group of people who still walk about with their heads low and every utterance a nag on the loss of the NPP. Ghana has so many issues and we as Ghanaians have too much work to do towards improving our country for time to be wasted relitigating election 2012. Sometimes I wonder how certain members of the NPP feel complaining that the party lost the 2008 and 2012 elections to the NDC unfairly. Since Atuguba's hearings are still in memory, I put it to such people to find solutions to the problem rather than disturb an already weary populace. The right thing for the party was going to court. Kudos to Nana Akuffo-Addo and others who chose not to sit idle while they perceived injustice regarding the elections and marched to the court with a carefully collated arithmetic presentation.Salut to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for his discerning exposition in the witness box and coherent explanation of the pink sheets making it possible of some of us lay folks to understand the proceedings.

I remember Mr. Mahama during one of the numerous celebrations of the life of the late President Mills, calmly, proclaiming to be the first President to be born in the nation of Ghana, and doing his best to encourage the youth of Ghana to seize our moment and work hard towards the future. We the youth, welcome his message with fervent support and wait for him to lead by example through the positive execution of duties. In our attempt to reciprocate his advice, we also seek to encourage him to share Ghana's wealth of which he is presently the custodian equally among all of us without favor to family, friends, social status or political affiliation in the form of excellent education and conditions for good paying jobs.

He may also start by awarding some of the many developmental contracts to others not named or linked to Zoomlion or the Agams group. For In Ghana, we believe in sharing and 'sharing is caring.' President Mahama may be the first head of state to be born in the independent 'Nation of Ghana,' but for now we hold our judgment on his administration. It is our hope that he will leave the affairs of the country in a much better state than he met it, and together as one people, and one nation under God Almighty, we as Ghanaians shall work towards a 'Better Ghana,' and a brighter future for generations to come.

For now, edey b, life is good but for too few a Ghanaian for us to rejoice. The unique Ghanaian joy that some of us enjoy needs to be shared with others who have not been as privileged or lucky enough for whatever reason. We as a people, NGO's and private companies as organizations, and government as an institution should help spread the love to every corner of our beloved country especially Northern Ghana. Then only, and only then shall we all rise to say that Ghana Dey B, K3K3! GYE NYAME.
