Our Mindset For Ghana's Development

When you read Forbes African richest, mention 1 Ghanaian listed. We must collectively build and brand our Ama Ghana. If Dongote and Adenuga is synonymous with Nigeria, Patrice Motsepe is to South Africa, Miloud Chaabi is to Morocco, Isabel dons Santos is to Angola... Which names do we have synonymous to Ghana? Singapore, Malaysia and co were built without millionaires but with concerted efforts. Every fibre of our economy must be uplifted, this in every great economies are done by ordinary people who see extraordinary in their situation.

In Ghana we are quick to point at those placed in positions. If you have a people who misinterpret position with leadership what do we get? People assuming positions thinking they are leaders because that is how their people think. Our orientation about who a LEADER is must change?

Our understanding and definition of LEADERSHIP must change....then we can all as a people call others into leadership roles. Let's stop this cliche of calling business men and women leaders, look at Myles Moroe before we cloud people with leadership title.

The supposed leadership trainers must give us something different, this usual equation of money to success to leadership is a fallacy and not real. In Great economies, business owners or successful entrepreneurs are not equated to be leaders. What one thing sold Obama as potential president?was it his wealth, fame,? Or practical leadership tried and tested qualities? He was noticed and experienced making changes in the peoples lives across race and status.

Parade all our president who can be compared to Osagyefo ? Which of them can you consciously, honestly and confidently call a leader?

If we deviate from this stigmatic perception that classroom makes leaders, we will make a leap into greatness. One other annoying thing is this, we complain so bitterly about people in position, yet when they are changed we see same. What does this logically and critically tell us? We can't straighten already bended old coconut tree. So we must look at those in the nursery process to straighten them, but another questions is who are to do this? Look at the worth of experience diplomat K.B. Asante has, it is his kind who must be part of our nurturing process yet because he is not seen as a giant in business how do we handle him.

The other deadly virus today is how some people are pumping junk into the minds of the youth to pursue entrepreneurship sighting monetary gain as motivating factor. What is money without selfless service or the people as the motivation factor. Oprah Winfrey said " if your motivation is money, you will never have enough, but if your motivation is the people, they will take care of you" she is an example of her quote, just as madam C.J Walker.

We as a country are not in any crises due to bad leadership, but rather we are in challenging times because we chose to be. People in position are our direct mirror effect. So to change what we see or are seeing we must change the real. But this is the most difficult task for us because we enjoy blame game which is the foundation of COMFORT ZONE.

In going forward we must break the thought " if it's for me the it's ok, but for you, it's bad" and the selfish traits of placing our stomach above Ghana. we can have God as president with our mindset, attitude and motivation nothing will happen. At lest there is a biblical example of the Israelite during the exodus. We must all be part of the re-orientation process to build the Ama Ghana we want.
