The Sales and Marketing Director of Bamson Company Limited, (Sikkens), Mr George Debrah, has reiterated the company's resolve to improve the auto spraying industry in Ghana through world class training programmes.
Mr Debrah said the continuous training of players in the industry was very important 'because such courses keep them abreast of new trends and also introduce them to good quality products, especially those produced by the world's leading auto paint manufacturer, Sikkens.'
He was commenting on a recent working visit to the Sikkens headquarters in Holland by some auto sprayers drawn from the Accra, Tema and Kumasi metropolitan areas.
The visiting sprayers included Mr Ernest Yao Atakli of JAY-ES-BEE Company Limited, Tema; Mr Emmanuel Nkansah - Emmanuel Nkansah Auto Body Shop, Kumasi; Mr Ofori Agyekum -Metro Mass Transit Limited, Accra and Mr Victor Oduro - Neoplan Ghana Limited, Kumasi. The group was led by Mr Leslie Orraca-Tetteh of Bamson Company Limited.
The international training programme was in line with Bamson's efforts to constantly educate auto sprayers in the country to keep them abreast of current developments in the global auto spraying industry.
The programme was facilitated by Mr Nicolaas Bastiaan Ouwehand, a Training Instructor at Akzo Nobel Holland and Mr Hans Schrama, Export Manager for Africa.
The visiting group toured the Akzo Sikkens factory where they were taken through various technical practices including preparation of car bodies for spraying as well as the use of different Sikkens primers and fillers.
The sprayers also learnt about the application of Sikkens basecoats and clear coats; spot repairs, use of the 'Automatic 3' colour checker and rapid repair.
The group received lessons in modern auto body shop management and also toured some interesting places in Holland. They have since returned to Ghana
Receiving the group on arrival, the Administrative Officer of Bamsons Company, Mr George Amoako Kyei, said the company was convinced that the trip had been very useful to the sprayers.
'I take this opportunity to entreat the youth to venture into the auto body works business to help solve the mounting unemployment in the country,' Mr Kyei said.
He also urged all auto spraying workshop owners in the country to continually strive to improve their services to give customers value for their money.
