The Minister of Transport, Mrs. Dzifa Attivor, has hinted that the landing beach at Yeji would soon benefit from three speed boats her ministry had ordered into the country to support river transportation.
The Minister said one of the speed boats would be allocated to the Yeji landing beach.
She was addressing a 'thank you rally' at Yeji organised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was also attended by Barbara Asamoah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, and Mr. Sanja Nanja, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atebubu Amantin.
The Minister also assured the people of Pru that a brand new pontoon would be provided to support the existing one which operates from Yeji in the Brong Ahafo to Mekango in the Northern Region.
According to her, a careful study had shown that the one in use was old, and making it difficult to travel in comfort, and gave the assurance that her ministry would work hard to make travelling easier in the country.
She appealed to private transport owners to co-operate the Ministry of Transport to do away with outmoded vehicles in the system to help reduce accidents.
Aminu Suleman, Minister of Roads and Highways, appealed to drivers who ply our roads and the rivers to be extra careful in the discharge of their roles to reduce accidents.
The Minister said the country cannot afford to lose lives on a daily basis, and advised drivers, passengers, transport owners, and all and sundry to help address the situation.
Minister Suleman also assured the people that the ongoing road tarring project, from Prang to Kintampo, would soon be completed.
Aminu Suleman appealed to the Moslem communities to consider education as the key to success, and give priority to their children's education.
Dr. Kwabena Donkor, Member of Parliament for Pru East, on his part, said the ruling National Democratic Congress government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, would do all it can to develop every corner of the country, help reduce poverty, and improve the lot of the people.
The MP expressed appreciation for the massive support given him by the constituents of Pru East at the last general elections to elect him as their MP, and President Mahama as the President of the Republic of Ghana.
Dr. Kwabena Donkor gave he assurance of his commitment to serving the people, saying he would do all in his power as MP and a citizen of the area to bring development to the doorsteps of the people.
The MP reminded Ghanaians, God fearing as they are, not to forget to trust God for his providence, and rely on him to drive the nation forward through prayers.
According to Dr. Donkor, the challenges like the energy crisis, and strike action by teachers, confronting the nation, now were signs of good hope, because every good thing does not come easy. 'We must past through difficulties before getting what we want,' he said.
The Pru East lawmaker appealed to the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), TEWU, Concerned Teachers and Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) to, in the name of God, call off the strike action, while negotiations are ongoing.
He asked teachers to be patient in pressing for their demands, because the government would surely address their concerns.
