
Ho, Oct 4, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday announced that government would soon deliver a number of marine boats to the Ghana Marine Police to step up surveillance on the high seas.
“The Marine Police would also ensure that proper fishing rules and regulations are strictly adhered to throughout the fishing zones of the country,” he said.
President Mahama said this when he inaugurated a 200-capacity Police recruits' dormitory block at Ho as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Volta Region.
President Mahama earlier on visited the Ho Polytechnic, inaugurated a 200-capacity girls' dormitory at Mawuli Senior High School, addressed staff and students of OLA Girls' Senior High School and interacted with market women at the Ho Central Market.
President Mahama said apart from the boats, government had also provided 1,400 vehicles for the police service and enhanced the salaries of the police with the implementation of the single spine salary structure for public servants.
The President also announced that government had provided the police service with 2000 communication gadgets and said management and leadership of the service to give the gadgets to personnel on the grounds.
