The Chinese Government is to provide an interest free loan of 230 million Chinese Yuan for the construction of a portion of the Accra-Kumasi road.
Some Chinese experts have therefore arrived in the country to undertake feasibility studies as well as finalise arrangements for the disbursement of the loan.
Mr. Zhan Keyuan, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana announced this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Defence, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor at Burma Camp in Accra yesterday.
Dr. Addo Kufuor, commended the Chinese Government for helping Ghana in her development efforts.
He announced the construction of a four-storey building to house the Ministry of Defence at a cost of $5 million, which would be borne equally by the governments, of both countries.
Dr. Addo Kufuor said documentation on the ministry’s new building project was almost ready and expressed delight that the Chinese component of the support would be a grant.
