Gays and Lesbians may Cause the Demise of this already Dying Nation: Believe it or Not

Myjoyonline.com, on the 17th of July, 2012, published a report titled: CRC avoids making definite recommendation on gay rights” According to the report: “The Constitution Review Commission (CRC) has failed to deal with the complicated issue of recognizing the rights of homosexuals in Ghana's Constitution. Over 98 percent of submissions received by the Commission during its consultations were to the effect that homosexuality should not be recognized.”

I am personally pleased and happy to see that there are right thinking Ghanaians who know the dangers of legalizing same-sex marriages and, like the proverbial righteous man who does something when things are going wrong instead of sitting on the fence, they went to the extent of petitioning the Commission not to recognize same-sex marriages.

Wondering why I called them right-thinking Ghanaians? Do I think that gays, lesbians and the legal bigwigs who regularly and vociferously champion their cause don't have their right-thinking caps on?

Of course not.

When I use the phrase “right-thinking;” I'm using it in reference to these Ghanaians' ability to perceive and understand the dangers of legalizing same-sex marriage in Ghana.

Not only will it insult our cultural orientations, beliefs and dignity, but it will bring about the demise of this dear nation of ours. Believe it or not.

Is that someone laughing his head off? You're gay? Hell.

Is that someone with a smile spread out on her face? You're anti-heterosexual? Damn.

Now, I'm sure both of you can't in a million years understand how legalizing same-sex marriage can cause the demise of this dear nation of ours, but I will tell you about it. If I can't educate you, at least, permit me to put my human rights and legal ignorance on public display. And here I go—if you're a literature and history buff like me, you'll readily recognize this factual story: Rome wasn't built in a day. It was built overtime; then flourished, then floundered.

It bloomed, then busted. Finally, it fell and fell and fell. Why? Because of moral decadence.

Wondering what the hell the fall of Rome have to do with legalizing same-sex marriages in Ghana? Ah, you don't know. I won't blame you anyway. I'll blame Kuffor and his honchos who somehow kicked out the study of History from our Ghanaian Schools' Curriculum. And the Government which succeeded them wasn't and isn't having the wits about them to bring it back. They both don't see the importance of history study in our schools, but they know the importance of meddling with the number of years our children spend in school, right?

Enough of the history lesson, grandstanding, and deviation in writing; let's get back to the main issue: the fall of Rome and legalizing same-sex marriages in Ghana.

Now, this is where the two are connected: Rome flourished and only died when its citizens started indulging in all sorts of immoral acts—perpetrating acts of corruption on gargantuan scales, being unfaithful to their partners, men becoming fascinated with sexing their partners in both openings—the vagina and anus (with multiple sexual partners of course), men sleeping with men, and women going to bed with women.

Children were born and grew up without proper families—without having both father and mother present, and most of them grew up into societal failures. And this is something same-sex marriage partners also do. They adopt children and are never able to bring them up properly; because the environment isn't right for them.

As the societal moral high ground decayed and denigrated, there were less and less morally-minded citizens in Rome; citizens who could think on their feet. And Rome fell and fell and fell. Of course, this wasn't the only cause but it was a prominent and prompting one.

Legalize same-sex marriages in Ghana, and we're done and dusted, drowned and dead.

Irrespective of what the likes of Nana Oye Lithur will think and say, same-sex marriages should never and will never be legalized in Ghana. Mark my words.

If they want to be gays and lesbians, let them be. But they shouldn't try holding the rest of the country to ransom. We won't stand such a Western, wobbling, weak-kneed nonsense.
