I'll never leave my husband even if he has a child out of wedlock – Amakye Dede's Wife

By Yaa Ayisah - Asempa FM

Mrs. Mary Amakye-Dede, wife of Ghana's renowned highlife artiste, Amakye-Dede has entreated Ghanaian ladies not to enter into marriages with the aim of enriching themselves.

This comes against the backdrop that many women regard marriage as an opportunity for acquiring wealth rather than God's sacred institution.

Speaking on the program “Abrabo” on Asempa 94.7 FM, Adwoa Mary as she is affectionately called said it is better to start life and make wealth with the man of your life entering a marriage with an opportunistic mindset.

“Ladies no longer have the attitude to endure challenges in marriage. I know some men are troublesome but it is not healthy to go into marriage with the idea of what you will gain, should the relationship collapse” she noted.

“I will never abandon my marriage even if my husband has a child out of wedlock” she added.

The wife of the highlife legend revealed among all her husband's life-touching highlife songs, “Dabi Dabi” is her favorite because it depicts how she started life with her husband.

She has been married to Abrantie Daniel Amakye Dede for over 30 years and remains the only legal wife.Acording to her, she met the highlife legend when she migrated to Accra from her hometown, Asante Akyem Agogo where she completed her education at the old “form-four” level.

The mother of four who is currently managing the popular “Abrantie” spot explained how the spot was started.

“I bought a container during one of her husband's trips outside the country. My husband upon his return transformed the place into a drinking spot which I've been managing for 20 years now” she said.

She further disclosed she neither gets easily upset nor holds on to her anger for long. She encouraged ladies to hold on fast on to the Lord in prayer as it is the ultimate answer to all situations in life.

“Fufu” and “Etor” she says are her favorite dishes.
