Kumasi, Aug 22, GNA- The Ghana Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship (GCMDF), has called on the government to speed up the establishment of the graduate training in the country to revamp the healthcare delivery system.
The Christian doctors have also called on civil society, stakeholders and health professionals to assist in finding a lasting solution to the situation through all possible means as a contribution to a sound healthcare delivery.
These were contained in a two-page communiqu=E9 issued by the GCMDF and signed by Dr Kobina Nkekyer, its President, at the end of their third annual conference held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi on Thursday.
The theme was: "The Christian Doctor and Healthcare delivery in Ghana".
The communiqu=E9 asked Christian medical and dental consultants to cooperate with their colleagues abroad to create a system under which doctors would receive scholarships to acquire professional training abroad and be encouraged to come back home and serve the nation. The doctors urged the senior colleagues in the profession to serve as mentors and impart sound character and skills to the young ones as they strive to attain ethical and moral excellence in providing healthcare. The GCMDF took cognisance of the holistic healthcare delivery and believe in the example of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, who was compassionate, selfless, caring and non-discriminatory in dealing with the sick, poor and the needy. 22 Aug. 03
