STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS (NUGS)
ON THE USE OF INSULTS IN OUR NATIONAL BODY POLITIC
Enough to the Politics of Insults Parties- Nugs calls
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) sees the exchange of vitriol and politics of insult engaged by our national Political Parties especially the two dominating parties of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as morally degrading, exceedingingly mercenary and not befitting our nation.
The Union wants to remind especially both parties that, the good people of Ghana will not vote in the coming Friday, 7 December, 2012 based on which of the two parties is a champion in vitriol throwing and insults peddling but rather, they will vote based on who is going to put bread and butter on their table; deliver quality education to their children; provide good family and public healthcare delivery system in the country; create more jobs to stop the growing tide of unemployed youths on our streets; and provide the country with first class road networks.
The Union is by this statement cautioning our national Political Parties to engage in a healthy debate of issues and not insults. It is only when you serve Ghanaians with the meal of debating issues that we will solve the trust and confidence deficit currently characterizing our body politic.
We are also calling on the other civil societies in the country; Christian Council (Ghana), the Office of the National Chief Imam, Bishop Conference, Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) to stop treating our national Politicians with a kid glove so that together we will salvage our nation from the scourge of destruction as witnessed in some other countries close to us.
Enough is enough Ghana. We should take no more insults.
Thank you.
