Kasaam (Ash), Dec 2, GNA – Baffour Asuming Gyekye, Chief of Asonomaso, and 24 others in the Kwabre District, were on Friday honoured with prizes for distinguishing themselves in various areas of agriculture.
The chief won the overall district best farmer award and was presented with a 21-inch television, bicycle, radio cassette player, Wellington boots, spraying machine, four cutlasses and wax print.
The others were given Wellington boots, cutlasses, key bar soap, radio cassette players and certificates.
This was at the 27th national farmers day celebration held at Kasaam.
Alhaji Iddisa Adams, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the farmers for their efforts at sustaining national food security.
He spoke of the government's determination to put in place policy measures and interventions that would help to transform the face of farming in the country and make it more rewarding.
It would continue to subsidize fertilizers and improve feeder roads linking the farming communities, he added.
