Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong inducted Akuapem Presbytery Chairperson

Akropong-Akuapem, Oct. 25, GNA - Reverend Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, was inducted into office as the new chairperson for the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, at Akropong on Sunday.

Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong, former Director of Inter-Faith and Research Center of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, succeeds Rev. Dr. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, whose tenure of office as Presbytery Chairperson ended on August 31.

Preaching the sermon, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey, called on Ghanaians to ensure unity and unity for development.

He condemned ethnocentrism, division, nepotism, rancor, bribery and corruption, rumour mongering and back-biting in Ghana, especially when the country was preparing for Election 2012.

Rt. Rev Prof. Martey asked people in leadership positions to be humble and eschew arrogance, greed and power-drunkenness to prevent inflaming passion of the people.

The Moderator advised Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong to sow seeds of evangelism and love among the congregations and said: “If faith is to flourished, it needs to strike deep roots of love in the hearts of the people.''

Rev. Dr. Ayete- Nyampong thanked the Akuapem Presbytery for the confidence reposed, and the out-gone Presbytery chairperson, Rev Dr Mante, for his dedication and exemplary leadership, which had made the Presbytery as one of the best in the church.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong promised to work hard to strengthen the local congregations and districts of the church and announced the establishment of the Akuapem Bible School which to be affiliated to credible institutions in the country.

The 52-year-old Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong is a theologian scholar of Aberdeen University, Scotland, where he obtained his doctorate degree, specializing in Pastoral Care and Counseling.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong, was elected at the 84th Akuapem Presbytery Conference held at Akropong.
