Kumasi, Oct. 9, GNA – New Edubiase FC on Sunday opened the 2011/12 Glo-Premier League campaign on a sound note with a hard fought 3-2 victory over visiting Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Edubiase's Emmanuel Baffoe was the hero of the day as he banged in three goals in the 17th, 70th and 80th minutes for his side to keep them on course for a successful season.
The match commenced on a fast note with both sides working aggressively from the midfield towards the goal areas of the respective opponents.
It was, however, Edubiase who stunned the Bechem lads by scoring the first goal in the 17th minute courtesy Baffoe with Eric Fordjour equalizing for the visitors in the 37th minute to end the first half at par.
On resumption of the second half, Edubiase concentrated their attack on the flanks and took the lead in the 70th minute through Baffoe but the visitors fought gallantly to draw level in the 76th minute through Richard Addai.
When proceedings seemed to be pointing to a drawn game, Baffoe denied Bechem of at least earning a point with a spectacular goal in the 80th minute to end the game in the favour Edubiase.
At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Ash-Gold SC drew 1-1 with visiting Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs.
