Merchant Bank has appointed Blaise Ofoe Mankwa as board chairman of the bank. He replaces Dr J K Richardson whose term of office ended in December 2002. Mr. Mankwa will in the interim also take up the responsibility for the day to day running of the bank in the absence of a substantive Chief Executive officer.
The former Chief Executive of the bank Chris Nartey retired last month. Mr Mankwa who has had over 25 years experience in banking plans to make the bank the main driving force in Ghana’s industrialization and economic development process. The bank was adjudged the best bank in long-term credit at the recently held Ghana National Banking awards.
