A GHANAIAN born German, Anthony Rau has expressed his burning desire to enter the German parliament in the next few days.

Mr. Rau, a human rights activist told DAILY GUIDE he wanted to enter the German parliament to fight for all Africans, especially Ghanaians in that country.

'I want to change most of the German laws which always go against foreigners especially the Africans he indicated and explained that 'according to the German Foreign Birth Law (paragraph 4, section 2) if a fresh baby is born and found outside any city in Germany without the identity of the family, that child automatically becomes a German citizen.'

Explaining further, Mr. Rau referred to paragraph 4, section 3 of Article 1 of the German Constitution and said there were inconsistencies in the law which ought to be amended.

For example, he averred that 'any foreigner who gives birth in Germany has to live there eight years continually with resident permit before their children can become German citizens and described such a law as very bad.

'I want to fight for the African in general to enjoy their rights as in the USA, United Kingdom or in France. Any child born in Germany has to get citizenship without any discrimination,' he underscored.

Mr. Rau said a foreigner like him has to denounce his Ghanaian citizenship before applying for a German passport, but that is not so with the native Germans.

The human rights activist again explained that German laws make it imperative for Germans to hold a double passport.

He complained that 'As a foreigner with a foreign passport, you are not permitted to go outside Germany for more then six months.'

Mr. Rau also talked about work permits and other injustices against foreigners which he hoped to fight and change.

'As a human rights activist I have fought a lot with success but I think I can do better for my people if the people of Hamburg elect me to become a Member of Parliament.
