February 01, 2011 Tema, Feb. 1, GNA - The Tema Metropolitan Library Authority has appealed to public-spirited individuals and organisations to assist it to acquire internet facilities to enhance research work in the metropolis.
Mr Winfred Komla Monu, Metropolitan Librarian, who made the appeal on Monday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, explained that an Internet facility would provide services like e-library which would provide soft copies of reference and research materials.
He said the Library currently had in stock a total of 6,610 juvenile books, made up of 3,588 story and 3,022 subject books.
It also has a total of 5,262 adult books, comprising 4,477 lending and 785 reference books.
Mr Monu said out of the books in stock, his outfit received a total of 739 in 2010, made up of 719 lending and 20 reference books.
It also took delivery of 197 adult books, consisting 194 lending and three reference literature.
In 2010, the library registered a total of 42 adults and 169 juveniles, compared to 54 adults and 295 juveniles registered in 2009.
Mr Monu urged the public to register with the library to enable them borrow books.
