Madam Semanhyia, proprietor of Semanhyia Herbal Clinic at the center of a tussle with the Food and Drugs Board has been granted a GH¢30,000 bail with two sureties to be justified by an Accra circuit court.
She was charged on four counts of selling a drug without authorization, advertising a drug without authorization, preparing a drug under unhygienic conditions and manufacturing a drug without authorization.
She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Aboi had asked the court to remand her.
Madam Semanhyia was detained at the offices of the Criminal Investigations Department Thursday afternoon after responding to an invitation by the CID.
Officials of the FDB and policemen early in the week stormed the herbal clinic to seize a large quantity of herbal preparations meant for sale to patrons on the grounds that she did not have approval or certification to produce some of the products.
Madam Semanhyia however dismissed the claim, alleging that she was a victim of misdirected anger because she had refused FDB CEO, Dr. Stephen K. Opuni's sexual advances, a charge Dr. Stephen K. Opuni denied and mocked at.
According to Yaa Asantewaa of Asempa News who covered proceedings, supervising Justice Adwoa Coleman cautioned the accused not to distribute, sell or advertize any of her herbal products not approved by the Food and Drugs Board.
She is to reappear in court on Friday, February 25.
