The woman at the center of a tussle between the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) and a herbal clinic, Maame Semanhyia, has been detained at the offices of the Criminal Investigations Department after she availed herself to an invitation by the CID.

Maame Semanhyia, the proprieter of Semanhyia Herbal Clinic had earlier in an interview with Asempa FM alleged that her refusal to open up to the FDB Boss' sexual demands has led to the ban on some of her products.

Her lawyer, Emmanuel Effah Annan who spoke to Asempa News after they reported to the CID Headquarters at about 2pm Thursday afternoon, said his client has been detained allegedly on "orders from above" and has been refused bail pending her appearance in court on Friday morning.

Lawyer Effah Annan says after his client was made to write her statement, officers investigating the case said there was no way she will be granted bail. Lawyer Annan said they will have no choice than to proceed to court by Friday if all legal means to set her free fail.

The Public Relations officer of the CID, Chief Inspector Benefo Darkwa says he could not confirm or deny the arrest as the facts of the case was unavailable to him as at 9pm Thursday evening when Asempa News made contact with him.
