Most of the accidents that occurred on our roads are usually blame on drivers, but we have forgotten that, we have bicycle and motor riders on the roads as well.
Looking critically at the accidents that occurred on our daily use roads, they are been, course by cyclists and pedestrians.
We have, driving schools that trained drivers on how to drive and use the road signs. But we don't have that for motor cyclists. When drivers go for their licensed, the car is been and check and the driver also goes through series of exam before they will be given the licensed, but in Ghana it is not so with cyclists.
If you buy motor in Ghana, that means, you have automatically become a good cyclist, and when the cyclist are taking licensed too, the motors are not check, or the riders do not go through any examination.
Whereas, because of civilization, many people use motor, majorly as a means of transport, especially in our villages. The traditional way of learning how to rid a a bicycle was either your elder brother or friend teaching you how to ride, but even in motor riding, as soon you can spark and move, then it means you are capable of being a good cyclist.
Also motor riding in Ghana is more of fun than, to be use as a means of transport, many cyclist has use the roads as a means of showing their new riding skills that they learn on the Television
I am therefore appealing to Minister of Road and Transport, and other authorities concerned that, they should actually set institutions that will take care of this motor cyclist. The police should also start checking and arresting motor riders who violate road signs, motor riders should also under go examinations when going for their licensed. We also need motor cyclist schools in Ghana.
