A YOUNG man in Takoradi got the shock of his life when he discovered a G-string lady’s underwear inside the kenkey he had bought and was about to eat.
Briefing The Mirror, the man, Mr Isaac Ato Nzeh, 33, said at about 9:30 pm on Sunday, August 1, 2010, he returned home to the Anaji Estate, on a friend’s motor bike, after making some rounds with a missionary team aboard MV Logos Hope, an international charitable ship that had berthed at the Takoradi Port on July 23, 2010, on a 12-day goodwill visit to the oil city.
According to Mr Nzeh, who is a professional cameraman working with a multi-media studio in Takoradi, when he got to the Anaji taxi rank, he decided to buy food from a vendor at the station.
He, therefore, bought two Gp40 Fanti kenkey and some sachets of Cow Bell powdered milk and proceeded home, with a plan to mash the kenkey in the morning.
Mr Nzeh said the next morning, which was Monday, August 2, he decided to mash the kenkey, a delicacy he relished so much.
He unwrapped the first ball of kenkey and dropped it in a bowl. However, when he unwrapped the second kenkey, he found a piece of fabric sticking out of the wrappings.
Initially Mr Nzeh said he thought it was just a tiny bit of “rag” that had inadvertently found its way there during the kenkey-making process. However, he and a friend who was present became curious and wanted to see exactly what the fabric was.
According to him, they were shocked beyond description to realise that it was actually a green-and-black lady’s panties, the type commonly referred to as G-String.
Explaining further, Mr Nzeh said the panties had been folded neatly and placed beneath the kenkey before the leaves were wrapped all round. He said he was so amazed he could no longer bring himself to mash and eat the food.
However, other observers who spoke to The Mirror on the issue thought the panties found its way into the kenkey “by mistake” during the preparation process, especially since Fante Kenkey is usually prepared at night, while others believed it had spiritual connotations.
Meanwhile, the Food and Drugs Board has taken custody of the kenkey and the panties pending further investigations.
