Religious leaders charged to be community-conscious

Churches in the country are being enjoined to engage in holistic ministry in order to make a difference in their communities.

According to the Head Pastor of the Atonsu branch of the International Central Gospel Church, reaching out to the social, economic and health needs of the community should be as important as meeting the spiritual needs of the people.

Reverend Samuel Effah Amponsah says it is high time Churches influenced the society through its good deeds and not only through the Word of God.

He spoke to Luv/Nhyira News after the church donated food items and other toiletries worth 1, 500 Ghana Cedis to the Kumasi Children's Home.

ICGC Atonsu has also embarked on free medical screening for the Atonsu community, as part of its 6thanniversary.

Rev. Effah Amponsah says in the midst of financial challenges, the church plans to embark on community empowerment projects, including the establishment of a school and a supermarket.

He emphasized the need for the Church to demonstrate its commitment to the community through the creation of sustainability relationships.

Meanwhile, Churches in the Kumasi metropolis marked Palm Sunday yesterday in preparation of the Easter festivities.
