Suhum, Nov. 16, GNA - A magistrate's court at Suhum, on Monday sentenced Kofi Berdjina, a 23-year-old driver's mate, to 12 months imprisonment for stealing cassava costing GH ¢ 28.
Berdjina pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.
Detective Police Sergeant Eric Opoku told the court presided over by Ms Kokuvie Tay that the complainant, Opanin Kofi Ntow lived at Anom, a suburb of Suhum.
Prosecution said for the past six months, the complainant had been realised theft of cassava from his farm but all efforts to apprehend the culprit proved futile.
Sgt Opuku said on October 26, some people spotted the convict harvesting cassava from the complainant's farm and reported the matter to him (complainant).
