The Members Of Ssnit Board Must Be Sacked Now!

The Members Of Ssnit Board Must Be Sacked Now!

Fellow Ghanaians,

When the framers of the law covering the SSNIT loan were drafting of the bill they had the underprivileged and those whose parents earn less than GHC 50 a month. The loan which was instituted to aid the students had been flawed structurally and fundamentally.

The premised upon which the loan was granted are;l
1. To help subsidize fees of the tertiary students and also

2. To help them get access to study materials among others.

However, with the current late arrival of the loan many faces of the beneficiaries have gotten distorted due to frustration. This accounted for the over 300 students who got deferred during the 2008/2009 academic year of the University of Ghana, Legon. With the other institutions, the story cannot be any different.

The late arrival of the first semester loan for the 2009/2010 academic year, many students have gotten the programs of their various fields of study deferred due to their inability to finish the payment of their fees.

Is it a crime to come from a poor home?
By this article, we call on the President of the Republic to get the board members of SSNIT sacked immediately based on the below points:

1. That their inability to identify between want and luxury should be the rationale for their sacking. Knowing very well that some students who have signed onto the loan will need it to offset some of the debt of their fees, they rather decided to invest the money as it is alleged.

2. That, the loan of GHC 190 to the students of the Humanities and the GHC 210 for students of the Sciences is too meager and fundamentally irrelevant in this changing circumstances.

3. That, the money must be released immediately without delayance.

4. That, the question must be asked as to whether the people place in positions of trusts and confidence can at deliver to the satisfaction of the over 8 million poor in our country.

With the satisfaction of these, the students are tied of being hewers of wood and drawers of water.

This is clarion call on the government since we in the middle of the semester and the money was supposed to have arrived early for some of our colleagues to pay their tuition fees in order to jump the gallows of deferment.

THIS IS WHY GHANAIANS MUST BE FIERCE. IT MUST BE URGENT. IT MUST BE NOW!

IT MUST BE THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW!
