Mills Picks Ambassadors

PRESIDENT JOHN Atta Mills has finally released the names of 36 Ambassadors and High Commissioners for Ghanaian missions abroad after seven months in office.

The appointees, DAILY GUIDE has gathered, are expected to take up their postings very soon to represent Ghana in a quest to further strengthen diplomatic relations with other countries abroad.

Information gleaned by the paper indicates that President Mills would in due course be coming out with more names to add up to the number.

Some of the appointees are old guards in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) Administration and have been assigned mostly to African countries whilst relatively unknown persons in Ghanaian political circles are being posted to countries perceived to have all the juicy trappings.  

The names released so far, DAILY GUIDE has gleaned,  are Mrs. Anna Anin, Netherlands; Valise Achianu, Serbia; Mrs. Mariel Cofie, China; Alhaji Baba Kamara, Nigeria; Lt. Col. E. K. T. Donkor (Rtd), Ivory Coast; C. N. Akotey, Morocco; Kwame Tenkorang,  Japan; Robert Techie Meson, India; James Naadjie, Zimbabwe; Abdulai Yakubu, Senegal; and Paul Aryene, Germany.

Others are Dan K. Abodakpi, Malaysia; Alhaji Abdulai Salifu, Saudi Arabia; Johnny Kwadwo, Togo; Hodari Okae, Libya; Donald Adabire, Mali; Chief Mandeaya  Bawumia, Burkina Faso; D. S. Boateng, Cuba; Ntow Boateng, Equatorial Guinea; Dr. Seth Korangteng, Russia; Alhaji Amidu Suleiman, Egypt; and Dr. R. B. Turkson, Canada.

The rest include Paul Essel, Australia; Henry Hansen Hali, Israel; Mrs. Ellen Nee Whang, Geneva; Mrs. Genevieve Tsegah, France; Yaw Osei, Angola; Fidelis Ekar, Spain; Daniel Ohene Agyekum, USA; and Modestus Ahiable, Benin.

Also included in the postings are , Sierra Leone; Maj. Gen. Odotei, Namibia; Hajia Fati Jawula, Denmark; Mrs. Margaret Clarke-Kwesie, South Korea; Mr. Lee Ocran, South Africa and Dr. Danso Boafo, UK.
