Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed England-born yougster of Ghanaian decent Curtis Obeng is currently on trial at the Premier League side.
The 20-year-old full-back is without a club after he was released by Manchester City at the end of last season.
Obeng played 45 minutes of Thursday's 1-0 friendly defeat at Crewe, but Martinez has yet to make a decision on whether to offer him a Latics contract.
"Curtis has been on trial with us for a couple of days, and it was a very good opportunity to watch him in an 11 on 11 situation," he told the Wigan Evening Post.
"It was a good exercise for him, but it's too early to say whether he will come out to Austria with us.
"We'll have to have a chat and assess the situation and we'll see how it goes from there."
