I was shocked to hear that President Mills has no intention to receive the lucrative per diems on travels. I wondered if he had a counsel from his Council of Elders. Has he forgotten that Mr. Globetrotter took advantage of per diem and nearly almost toured the whole world?
There is nothing more President Mills can do to show that he is the first man of God to rule Ghana with the Scriptures of Modesty and Honesty. He is truly heaven-sent!
If Prof is to travel extensively like Mr. Negro, his per diems can pay
salaries of all teachers in Ghana. This is not a big joke! It is
really big bucks!
But for KNUST, Akosombo Dam and the other edifices, Kwame Nkrumah would have been unheard in Ghana. After all his selfless toil for Ghana he was chased away by a bunch of ingrates!
The mere rejection of the per diems will not earn Prof better
accolades. He will be forgotten as no one remembers Harry Saywer, an
ancestor of Prof's decision.
Therefore I suggest a fund be set up to receive the per diems, so that
after 8 years of his Better Ghana, the monies be used to build 'ATTA
MILLS CENTRE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE.' or 'ATTA MILLS ORPHANAGE' or any other monumental national edifice with his name and portrait boldly inscribe on it. Posterity will ask who was Prof Atta Modesty Mills. And the story begins...
God bless you! Naawuni chela! Salaam! Assalamu'alaikum!
