Pride: The main cause of crimes in our times

Have you asked yourself the common question what is happening in the world currently that all mankind are entertaining fears that there is no peace anywhere?

Each and every day, breaking news of civil wars in certain countries keeps coming in. Huge reports of hard crimes by the youth, drug dealings, coup d'etats and many more keep happening only to create fear for mankind that living on this earth is no more peaceful and comfortable.

But currently, one will agree that what is dominating the news now is the daily report of youth gangsterism or the young boys and girls involving themselves in hard crimes or acts that are distasteful and resulting in contracting deadly diseases, get disgraced and finally death.

A careful research or investigation will leave one to discover that all these aforementioned happenings which are creating fear for mankind are all caused by pride always exhibited by certain people who think they know it all but do not know all in this world.

Really before I read a book titled "Dealing with the evil powers of your fathers house" edited by a Nigerian Evangelist called Dr. D.K Olukoya, I did not know much about pride and the dangers it holds for one who is so much of it.

In fact, his teachings on the topic will make every one learn a lot of it and can tell that really the teachings helped him to reassess his thinking, undertakings and check his actions in order not to have this canker and get destroyed by it.

As I read through, I learnt that pride was one way of defecting the presence of Satan or the devils presence in every ones life since it is his most powerful weapon which is evil.

Biblically, it was learnt that pride turned good angels to demons and threw them down from heaven places because God never created a devil.

Yes he created Lucifer which the Greek meaning of the word pride is very simply revealing and likened to something swelling like a balloon. Therefore anyone who is full of pride try to appear above his real level .A simple index of self-exaltation.

It could be observed that anyone who is full of pride try to raise his shoulders high - clear picture of swelling. Dress abnormally, talks by heart and always doing things which in reality contrast or conflict in simple good things.

Because pride is extremely bad, several other sins are attached to it; for example, one will not steal if he is never propelled by pride.

The minister of God, best explained that pride gives one a feel of being superior to others or being over priced once self. Anyone who is full of pride want to take on a stature that is larger than his, begin to feel that he is above others simply because he thinks he is bigger or richer than they are.

He observed that the life of proud people will be filled with contentions, strife, division, wrangling, vitriol disorder and the likes.

If one listens to some people talk about their academic degrees or certificates, you might become sick .Some people feel that to let others know that they are specifically qualified, they must frame their certificates and hang them on their necks.

Such people want every body to know that they have a masters degree or doctorate degree. The same people elsewhere go about telling those people who care to listen to them that their parents were the first lawyers or engineers to qualify in the country all sponsored by pride.

Why can't they show some respect to me? They should have known or recognize that I have a masters degree. Why should I be grouped with all these uneducated folks? Pride. Why did they not put my name on top of the list? Pride.

Some ministers even go to the extent of saying: "Why are people saying faint 'Amen' to my prayers?" Others would say "I can not use any vehicle unless it is air-conditioned, I know my class. Nobody can ever make me join bandwagon." Pride.

Pride has assumed new dimensions, thus making it simple for one to know that it is possible to be proud of things like immorality spiritual gifts, abilities, talents, dressings and many more.

Because of pride, young brothers and sisters are swelling above their stature forcing them into armed robbery, killing innocent persons, maiming their colleague and destroying properties that have taken the country years and resources to build.

Because of pride they put on panties that hangs under their buttocks and sweeps on the floor. Men are wearing two ear rings, platting their hair or putting on hair styles to look like female and almost doing things in opposite direction resulting in disgrace, diseases and death.

Have you ever asked or answered the question whether the world has ever stopped revolving since God created it? Great men recorded in the Bible like Abraham, Moses and David, and even Jesus Christ who was born, lived, crucified and resurrected to heaven never stopped the world from continuing to revolve.

We are currently living and shall also leave this world one day and it will continue to revolve with new people different from us with the same saying to the youth that they are the future leaders. So looking at their lifestyles now, it is easy to determine how life will be on earth after we have joined our ancestors.

Therefore it bestow on us the adult generation to rise up and change the tide to raise responsible future leaders who will maintain peace and order after we have filed out so that they do not blame us wrongly while in our graves.

The best way to tackle the issue is to help our younger brothers and sisters to understand that pride is evil and misleads one to destruction, therefore the need for them to remain humble and seek more academic Laurette's in various professions that will help them explore their hidden talents to elevate them to higher heights instead of turning to be bad nuts in future and live in neglect.

They should be made to understand that humility will kill the feeling for them to dress haphazardly, wield arms to cause destruction, refuse to use drugs, rape young and innocent girls as well as taking part in criminal activities that will not let our communities to be peaceful to live in.

Last but not the least, we have to teach them that they have the highest opportunity to enjoy as lawyers, doctors, educators, peace officers, chemists, politicians and more, provided they take their studies seriously and acquire knowledge and skills.

Let us rise up and act now since time does not wait for even Jesus Christ who was sent by God to save mankind from his sins and will never wait for us.
