AN ULTRA modern gym, valued at US$35,000 has been built at Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School at Tafo in the Tafo Pankrono Constituency of the Ashanti region.

The gym is furnished with Life Fitness equipment, including machines to work on the upper and lower parts of the body as well as the cardio area.

The machines were purchased from Pippa's Health Centre Limited, the country representative of Life Fitness Company.

This was made possible via the benevolence of the Member of Parliament for Tafo Pankrono Constituency, Hon. Akoto Osei.

In his address at the inauguration ceremony of the gym, Hon. Osei implored the citizenry, especially students to exercise regularly so as to stay healthy at all times.

He said his commendable gesture was to compliment the school's continuous valuable contributions to national sports development, adding, the school needed the gym to befit its status.

OKESS has produced a lot of sportsmen for the country over the years, especially footballers. Notable among them are Sulley Muntari of Inter Milan, Stephen Oduro of Kotoko, and Joe Louis, formerly of Accra Hearts of Oak among others.

On his part, the Headmaster of OKESS, Opuni Boakye expressed gratitude to Hon. Osei and appealed to him to facilitate the provision of a school bus, promised the school by the President, if possible before the year ends.

In a related development, Hon. Akoto Osei on Sunday cut the sod for the commencement of work on an 18-Unit Classroom Block at OKESS which is being funded by the GETFUND.

Briefing the gathering, the Tafo Pankrono MP reiterated the government's commitment to the development of education and urged the electorate to retain the NPP in power in the impending polls.
