Kofi Dsane-Selby, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party, has debunked claims that he is associated with the Danquah-Busia Foot Soldiers' Welfare Association formed by George O. Bonsu, with his brother Kwabena Dwomoh as the Chairman.
In a statement he co-signed with Eddie Teye, the man he described as the "legitimate founder and leader" of the group, Selby, a former ambassador, alleged that the actions of Bonsu and his brother were meant "to taint the good work of the true Danquah-Busia Foot Soldiers" Welfare Association," which as he put it, "is all part of the attempt to fulfill a promise he had made to the NDC executives."
Making allusion to news report on Adom FM, a Tema-bassed radio station, which mentioned him as a patron of another Foot Soldiers Association chaired by Kwabena Dwomoh, Dsane-Selby insisted, "I want to clearly state that this is a lie and that I am only associated with the Danquah-Busia Foot Soldiers Welfare Association of which Mr Eddie Teye is the founder and leader."
The NPP top shot alleged that while in the office of the group some time past with Eddie Teye, George Oti Bonsu, Managing Director of Bonsu Furniture Works, who was "somehow sponsoring" the group, told them some executive members of the NDC "wanted to bribe him so that the Foot Soldiers of NPP will put on NDC T-Shirts and belong to NDC henceforth."
The statement added, "However, knowing Dr Dsane-Selby and Mr Teye could not be bribed to change their political inclination and support, they wanted Mr Bonsu's support."
According to Dsane-Selby, it was on the basis of this that Bonsu formed a Foot Soldiers' Association and put it under the chairmanship of his brother, Dwomoh, "to taint the good work of the true Danquah-Busia Foot Soldiers' Association of NPP."
He has therefore cautioned all NPP supporters to be careful about their dealings with any group or individuals who will attempt to use them in pursuit of their selfish political agenda.
The Patron of the Danquah-Busia Foot Soldiers' Association also urged NPP members to be vigilant and put their shoulders to the wheel to ensure a resounding victory in the December elections.
