THE Father of the final year student of St. Johns Senior High School in Sekondi, who was wrongly walked out of the examination center on the grounds that he had not paid his school fees, has petitioned the Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES), to cause investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The father, Mr. Yaw Ankomah Coleman, a renowned Broadcaster with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Sekondi, told this reporter in a telephone interview that he decided to petition the GES to cause investigation into the circumstances that led to his son's dismissal from the exams hall for no wrong done, since it was later established that the student had paid the school fees.
Mr. Ankomah told this reporter that if GES fails to cause investigation into the case, he would be left with no option than to drag the school and GES to Court for negligence. According to him, he suspected foul play in the whole episode.
Meanwhile, the boy who was walked out of the examination hall on the grounds that he has not settled his school fees has explained to this paper what led to his exit from the centre.
Master Edward Ankomah Acquah told this reporter that on Monday (19th May) he was mistakenly sacked from the examination hall by the Invigilator on the pretext that he had not fully settled his school fees.
Master Edward claimed he did not produce his fee card, which he had then forgotten at home. The Invigilator did not bother to cross check from the school's Accountant as to whether he owed or not, after he had persistently argued about his innocence.
According to Ankomah, following the Invigilator's insistence for him to produce his fee card before he would be allowed to write the paper, he was walked him out of the examination hall. He (Ankomah) then decided to walk to the Accounts Office to get a note from the School Accountant to enable him write the exams since he was very optimistic that he did not owe the school. Surprisingly, the Accountant also insisted that he had not paid his fees.
He then rushed home to pick his fee card before he was admitted into the exams hall to continue with the examination. This prevented him from answering all the questions because he had little time at his disposal.
