The Chief Executive of Cocobod, Mr Isaac Osei, yesterday won the tension-packed Subin constituency primaries of the New Patriotic Party when he polled 52 votes to beat the other two contestants.
In a dramatic election, supervised by the Ashanti Regional Election Commission, Mr Eugene Antwi and Mr Ayisi-Boateng obtained 34 votes and 18 respectively.
Mr Osei, who was also Ghana's former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, called on all party faithful and sympathisers to unite and work hard as a team in order to retain the seat.
Mr Antwi and Mr Ayisi-Boateng graciously pledged their support and promised that they would rally behind Mr Osei to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
At Kwadaso, Madam Josephine Hilda Addo, the incumbent Member of Parliament also had a shock of her life as Dr Owusu-Afriyie-Akoto, Chairman of the Manifesto committee, won the primaries.
He polled 42 against Madam Addo's 30. The third contestant Mr Alex Abel Adusei, Deputy Executive Secretary of Divestiture Implementation Committee (DIC), got zero.
At the Manhyia constituency slot the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, was also defeated by Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a medical officer, who polled 82 against 43 votes.
