The government has reduced the curfew imposed on Hamile Township and its surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region from 11 hours to six hours.
The initial curfew, which took effect on November 3, restricted movement between 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily.
The revised restriction will run from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily, effective Thursday, November 5.
The adjustment follows the imposition of an 11-hour curfew on the area on Tuesday, November 3, amid security challenges confronting the township and its environs.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, announced the review in a statement issued on Thursday.
The revised curfew was imposed on the advice of the National Security Council and through an Executive Instrument.
Despite the reduction in curfew hours, the government has maintained the ban on residents carrying arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons in the affected communities.
The Interior Ministry cautioned that anyone found in possession of such weapons would be arrested and prosecuted.
Government has also appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and residents to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could undermine peace in the area.
It urged residents to channel their grievances through non-violent means to help restore and maintain calm.
