The newly elected Zebilla Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Clement Nawai Ayaaba, has urged party members to set aside their differences and unite behind a common goal following the constituency executive elections.
He cautioned supporters against excessive celebrations, stressing that the victory belonged to the party rather than any individual candidate.
Speaking shortly after his election, Mr Ayaaba said the priority should be reconciliation and rebuilding the party ahead of the challenges leading up to the 2028 general elections.
"It is the party that has won, not me. Let us put our differences behind us and work together," he emphasized.
He encouraged members to regard one another as part of the same political family and work collectively to strengthen the NDC’s position in the constituency.
Meanwhile, Council of State member and former Zebilla Member of Parliament, Cletus Apul Avoka, has challenged the newly elected executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by party members.
He said their election reflected their competence and urged them to demonstrate their abilities through effective leadership and commitment to the party’s growth.
"The NDC must continue to remain high in this constituency. Your competence led to your victory, so you must prove it," Hon. Avoka said.
Mr Avoka also appealed to unsuccessful candidates and their supporters to put the outcome of the internal elections behind them and work with the winners to build a united and stronger party.
The appeals for reconciliation come amid concerns that divisions arising from internal contests can undermine party cohesion and weaken collective efforts ahead of the 2028 general elections.
