The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, has assessed the preparedness of the Savannah Region to respond to disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies during a visit to the Regional Health Directorate in Damongo.
The visit on Thursday formed part of his journey to the Upper West Region to monitor the post-yellow fever reactive vaccination exercise.
During the stopover, Dr Akoriyea met the Regional Director of Health Services and members of the management team to discuss key issues affecting healthcare delivery and the need for stronger collaboration to improve health outcomes.
He also toured the Regional Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) to assess its readiness and capacity to coordinate responses to potential disease outbreaks and other public health threats.
The visit underscored the GHS's commitment to strengthening regional health leadership and building a resilient health system capable of responding promptly and effectively to emergencies.
