19-Year-Old Woman Remanded Over Alleged Fatal Stabbing of Boyfriend at Ofankor

A 19-year-old woman has been remanded over the alleged fatal stabbing of her boyfriend at Ofankor, in the Greater Accra Region. The Daily Searchlight reported the case on its front page on Thursday, 22 October 2026, with the full story on page 8.

Being remanded means the court has ordered her held in custody while the case continues. It is not a finding of guilt. She is entitled to the presumption of innocence until a court rules otherwise.

The case is another reminder of how quickly arguments in relationships can turn deadly. Ghana's Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) handles abuse in relationships.

Anyone in an unsafe relationship, or aware of one, can contact DOVVSU or the police. Young couples in conflict can also seek help from family, counsellors or community leaders before a dispute escalates.

What is not yet clear

The front page gives me only the headline and a photo caption. It does not say the woman's name, the victim's name or age, when and how the stabbing happened, what led to it, which court remanded her, what charge she faces, or when she returns to court.
