The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expressed condolences to the families of four pupils who died in an accident at Aboabo Extension Junction in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The accident, which occurred on Tuesday, October 20, also left three other pupils injured.

The deceased, identified as Juraid Mohammed, Anisah Ibrahim, Fati Muniru and Raiyan Faisal, were pupils of Mahad Islamic School at Akotosu, according to the GES.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, and signed by GES PRO Daniel Fenyi, the service said the deaths were a painful loss to the families, the school and the wider education community.

“The tragic death is a painful loss not only to the immediate families and school but also to the education community and the nation as a whole,” the statement read in part.

The Service extended its condolences to the bereaved families, the management and staff of Mahad Islamic School, as well as the entire school community.

It also expressed concern for the three pupils who sustained injuries in the accident and wished them a speedy recovery.

“We wish them a speedy and full recovery,” the GES stated.

The Service further appealed to motorists and other road users to exercise caution and prioritise the safety of schoolchildren to prevent similar incidents.
