The leadership of the Northern NPP Concerned Youth Group (NNCYG) has formally petitioned the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to take disciplinary action against Mr. Mahamadu Bondirigbum over conduct deemed to be in breach of party loyalty and discipline.
In a petition dated 16th October 2026, and addressed to the Regional Chairman through the Regional Secretary, Dr. Abdul Rahaman Karim Kpala, the group expressed grave concern over what it described as the member’s continued unguided and unsavoury utterances, associations, and actions on radio and television.
STATEMENT OF FACTS
According to the group, for the past few years—and more recently—the conduct of Mr. Bondirigbum has become a matter of concern to the rank and file of the party in the region.
The group noted that his public utterances are inconsistent with the conduct expected of a committed member of the NPP and have the potential to:
a) Create disaffection among the grassroots;
b) Undermine leadership, unity, and cohesion being built ahead of the 2028 general elections; and
c) Bring the name of the party in the region into disrepute.
BREACH OF THE CONSTITUTION
The NNCYG holds that the conduct offends specific provisions of the NPP Constitution (2025 Amended Version), namely:
Article 3(4)(1)(A) – Duties of a Member:
Enjoins every member to faithfully abide by and uphold the Constitution, protect and defend the good name of the Party, and conduct himself in a manner that will not bring the Party into ridicule, contempt, disrepute, or public odium.
Article 4(7)(1)(g) – Acts of Misconduct:
Provides that a member who brings the name of the Party into disrepute, public ridicule, contempt, or disrespect commits an act of misconduct.
Article 4(7)(2) – Sanctions for Misconduct:
States that any conduct that falls under misconduct shall attract sanctions—including fines, suspension, or expulsion from the Party—to be recommended by the relevant Disciplinary Committee.
The group argues that the continuous unguided utterances and actions of Mr. Bondirigbum on radio and television fall squarely within the definition of misconduct under Article 4(7)(1)(g) and are punishable under Article 4(7)(2).
OUR PRAYERS
The group respectfully prayed the Regional Executive Committee to:
- Invite Mr. Mahamadu Bondirigbum to answer to the concerns raised and show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against him;
- If found culpable, apply the appropriate disciplinary sanctions as provided under Article 4(7)(2) of the 2025 Amended Constitution; and
- Issue a strong caution to all members that anti‑party conduct will not be tolerated in the Northern Region.
“Discipline is the bedrock and fulcrum of our great party. If we allow such conduct to go unchecked, we risk destroying the spirit of sacrifice of our loyal grassroots members,” the statement concluded.
The petition was signed by the Leadership of NNCYG and copied to the National Secretariat of the NPP and the Regional Council of Elders, Northern Region.
